all about you

Sometimes everything can really seem about you, can't it? Like whenever you hear people's problems on TV, somehow it relates back to some issue in your life. Whenever I hear the word 'cancer' (which ends up being a lot), it always, in my little head, relates back to me, my tribulations, etc. Somehow, stuff just always seems poignant.

Anyway, on my way to the park with the dogs yesterday I heard Blackbird by the Beatles...and I wondered what it really was about, wondering if it was in any way a parody of my current experiences:

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Black bird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
all your life
you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Well since we're pulling water from the wisdom well here, I find "arise" to be an interesting verb choice in this context (whether that was lennon or mccartney's call, who will ever know). "Arise" has the conotation of "awakening" and "ascending", and to probe slightly deeper, "to arise" suggests a state of being that was fated to exist; a becoming or coming into; a shift of otherworldly proportions. For some reason, this word speaks volumes to me about your position and place right now, Dut. Your body is at war, fighting off the chemo, fighting to return to a purer space, fighting for the chance to arise into something greater. I believe from the bottom of my heart that you will come out of this thing a stronger, more whole person than you were before all this went down. Keep finding wisdom and truth in these everyday "coincidences" and bouts of deja vu. These are the signposts that tell you that, yes, you are indeed are travelling down the right road...
