DNC and bird porn

so, i've got lots of pics to post (am on way out door to Aspen for next few days, will update when get home). Things have been nuts in Denver. LOTS of people, protesters, artists, musicians, etc roaming about causing havoc. It's been cool. And cops. So many cops.

Anyway, we made sticker for our oil/nat'l gas client and handed them out (pics to come) and have been handed TONS of flyers and stickers in return (some cool obama ones), and people are shilling their causes everywhere, as well as trying to make a buck selling Obama gear.

The funniest/oddest one I've gotten, tho, is Stop Bird Porn. Check the site here. I honestly can't tell if its real or a joke, but someone is really putting a lot of cash into it as they are flying banners over the east coast beaches, have people here and are apparently really pushing the issue. What do you think?

Howdy, pardner

Woo, what a time we had! Patrick and Lori's wedding really ruled it. It was set on a beautiful ranch near Westcliffe, CO called Red Rock Ranch. It was set on 1100 acres of beauty, with the Sangre de Cristo (sp?) mountains looming in the distance. There were three houses, all with kitchens, bars and sweet lofts. About 50 people attended, and we mostly hung in the big house, as it had a full-on old west saloon. The house was built only 4 yrs ago, but it looks straight outta the 1800's inside. So many cool details. Old timey.

The first night we rocked the old west cowboy dress up, and it was FUN. I even grew a mustache for it (ryan, too). It was sweet. We did it like real cowboys and it was quite enjoyable to hang out with 50 cool people, everyone busting the cowboy hat and boots. There's tons of great pics of everyone sneering, putting on their best cowboy face.

Unfortunately, it rained most all the weekend and was kinda cold, so those not from CO didn't get tons of unrestricted, sweeping mountain views, but there were def some peekings thru the low clouds. On wedding day, the rain miraculously parted a few hours before weddingtime, and we managed to sqeeze in a gorgeous ceremony as the ominous clouds rolled across the valley towards us. It actually made for a spectacular setting, as the white dress and seersucker suits really popped on the grayish background.

All in all, a fantastic time. Lots of great folks we met in New Orleans were there to have fun with again, and lots of new people to meet as well as old friends. Good times. I hope to find a good photosharing site i can post all the pics to, but am having a hard time since there's hundreds of shots.

Beardcap

For those of you facial-hair-challenged (me) then here is your quick fix. Admittedly, this puppy will keep your noggin good and sweaty in the 90 degree heat we’ve had this summer, but think of all the armed robbery potential it possesses. And how else can you pose as a character from the old-school Rudoloph the Reindeer claymation movies for Halloween? Answer: you can’t. Buy a Hatbeard. Unfortunately, they ain't cheap.

Yearbook Yourself

This site is totally hilarious.
Upload a pic of yourself and see how you'd look with an outrageous mullet (oh, like you didn't know. All we have to do is find your real highschool pics) or a raging 70's do. It's very entertaining and is sure to occupy a good portion of your day you should be spending working on actual work.

Get back to work!

Cool Nike spot

I know the US Olympic Basketball team has been somewhat of a let down the last Olympics. Yes, this is putting it mildly. But as we've rolled into Bejing, our new team looks ferocious, thumping all foes with grand resolve. The players seem genuinely fired up to rep the red white and blue, ready to clean some foreigner clock. Domination.

I found this Nike ad for US Olympic basketball with Marvin Gaye singing the Nat'l Anthem. I found it to be a cool juxtaposition, and a reminder that Marvin was one smooth cat and that it's a shame he was killed prematurely. And that this year's basketball team is being called the 'redeem team'.

And, for what it's worth, I think this Nike Olympics/Courage ad is real cool, too. Inspiring.

Superhappyfuntime

Wow, what a wonderful trip we had to the south. We saw friends, family, the beach, trees, green, humidity. We crammed in a lot. I am just now getting back to normal and getting back to regular pace of life.

It was so fantastic to see all our old crew from GA, and Jekyll Island was a beautiful place to have a ripping party for the weekend. I have tons of great photos with tons of great peeps, but chose a few that were either funny or decent of folks and put a few up here.

We spent a few days at the beach and cruised about a little along the GA coastline. It's been MANY years since I've been down there, and I forgot how amazing the huge trees with moss growing out of them are. Sweet. Atlanta was looking darn green as well to us, as it's been one of , if not the driest and hottest summer on record out here and a LOT of stuff is crispy, brown and dead. Anyway, we had a ball down in the jungle down there, and were riding high for days after seeing so many quality people in one place. Wedding rock for that reason.

big f'ing tv

Take a peek at this bad boy. If you look at the screen hard enough you can make out the hampsters on wheels powering the thing inside there. All 99" of it's faux paneled woodness can be yours if you can shell out the $304 and have a full pack of sherpas to lug the thing into your mancave. Nice, and you can opt in for the atari brand VHS cassette player.
