What do you people think about Pettino? Personally, I don't blame the guy. His handling of the situation was def WEAK SAUCE, but the falcs scene is so beat down, with Vick and all, I'm sure any coach woulda bailed.Last year I had the NFL ticket and could see all the Falcons games- and was fired up about it. This year, i've only seen the pathetic monday night games...and notice the spirit is gone. Both in the players, and the fans (me). I'm wondering why we all are so complacent in Atlanta. Here in Denver, the Broncos could be going 0-8 and Invesco is sold out, everyone going nuts in religious support. The worst part is I find myself paying attention to the Donkeys only b/c ATL is so terrible. God, I'm bandwagon sometimes.
Anyway, just was wondering what people are thinking. I hear rumors of Bill Cowher...I say bring on that mean-ass scowl.

it's ridiculous to say any coach would have bailed. no one thought the falcons were one or 2 years away from the superbowl. few teams are. coaching pros takes skill that he did not have & did not want to learn. he's a chump who could not even finish the year for $5m! Falcs are better w/ out him. Go Browns!
Couple of thoughts.. Petrino leaving the Falcons in understandable considering the conditions, but the way it was handled (i.e. no team meeting-gave a 4 sentence letter to the players after the fact, held a 15 second meeting with his staff to say he was leaving) was terrible. The thing that pissed me off the most was the way he treated Arthur Blank. Blank confronted him knowing he was going to have an opportunity to sit in with the commentators during the game and discuss the state of affairs in ATL. Petrino told Blank "Tell them you've got a head coach" and shook his hand, so Blank was made to look like an idiot when 18 hours after the game, Petrino was yelling Whoa Pig suey.. Having read a few articles about Petrino after all this went down, its obvious that these behaviors are par for the course. And now, the SEC West is as incestuous as the crew from Beverly Hills 90210. Saban and LSU, Petrino and Tubberville, Nutt and Ole Miss, and that's not even getting into the normal rivalries. There's tons of fodder for the announcers of next years inter-divisional games..
As for the Broncos, do you think it has anything to do with the lack of major college football in the area? Add that to the fact that Denver has been fairly competitive, off and on for the past two decades. The Falcons have not, save one season, plus you've got the Jackets and Dawgs in pretty close proximity.
not sure really on that boz- it has been discussed around here. CU is the highlight of college football here, and that doesnt say much. I lived 20 feet from campus for 1+ years and couldn't even tell it was gameday come saturdays.
anyway, not really sure what the deal is here...but people just LOVE pro sports and really are hardcore. Makes ATL fans seem pathetic at best, me included.
as far as pettino- i understand why leaving may have made sense for him, but his handling was such weak sauce. falcons are better w/out that douche.
i love flowers.
Touche, Mere-Bear!!!
Petrino.
Good riddance...
